People in cities prefer to stay in apartments as a convenient way to live, but to own an independent house is a dream that everyone cherishes. Many cities do offer the typology of independent houses like Villas and Row Houses, but these too are compact like the apartments. Peri-urban areas and rural areas on the fringes of cities have options for Bungalows and Farm Houses with easy availability of know-how and resources for constructing this type of houses. These generally end up serving as weekend houses and second homes. Continue reading “Making your Independent Home”

House Interior Design 101
Everyone wants a beautiful house. It is thus critical to understand the meaning of beauty! As the cliche goes – Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – What is in the eye?? As we understand it today that the eye is an organ that takes in light and casts an inverted projection of the world within itself. It seems to be more like a media rather than an analytical system. One needs knowledge to validate value of things. I guess it is ok to say that we measure things by the information we have. Is ignorance – bliss when it comes to creating our homes? How do we accept the idea of beauty despite the array of visuals that we have accumulated as aspirations?? The hypothesis of this is that the things we call beautiful are from within, which has certain association with us. The places which we have visited or the experiences that we have had. Affordable Housing – Competition
Shelter is one of the most basic necessity for a human being. We as a nation needs to strive hard in order to achieve this for all our fellow countrymen, only then we can collectively rise! We as building industry professionals have to engage & participate in a conversation with the other experts & stakeholders of the industry in order to achieve this. We wish to put forth our thoughts in the hope that it is critically analysed and appreciated.
Cost can be cut in two distinct ways – qualitatively or quantitatively. We believe that compromising in quality is not an option. The methodology we have adopted is to strip down layers of perception that have grown thick on the culture of housing development and hope that we find solutions.

Office for an NGO
NGO’s are generally in need of funds for their day to day operations, leave apart finance for creating new infrastructure. This particular Institute was no different. They were occupying a G + 1 structure measuring 6000 sq.ft. Despite the fact that they had ownership of land which was given to them at a throw away price, there were conditions which handicapped them from extracting any other value out of that resource.
